Quantcast New Brew Tuesday | Monkey Brewster - Part 2
The Life and Times of a Monkey on a Mission
50 Women Travelers – Eat Your Heart Out ‘Eat, Pray Love’
Women travelers, solo female traveling and women in the travel industry have gotten a boost thanks to Elizabeth Gilberts Eat, Pray, Love. While the reviews are mixed on both the book and the movie (I haven't seen/read either), let us not forget those women travelers who have been out traveling for years or those fresh and new to the world of traveling without the promise of a book deal at the end....
Things To Do in Japan in December
Holy monkey, I am only 4 months away from heading to Japan for three weeks and with that I am starting on a list of what I should do while I travel there. I leave Newark, NJ on December 6th and return December 28th (my arrival time is before my departure time - gotta love the International Date Line) and will be spending a good portion of my time with my friend @BouncyMcTigger's sister in ...
Chicha Morada – Peruvian Purple Corn
Low and behold my astonishment when walking down the beverage isle of a grocery store in Lima, Peru when I found a soft drink like bottle featuring a big cartoonish picture of purple corn on it. I laughed and thought giddily to myself, "Silly humans, corn isn't purple and even if it was who would drink...corn?!?" Well I would, eventually, after being shown that there is purple corn, I mean ...
Lost Days of Rio
It's raining again, damn! It hasn't stopped raining for days. Normally this wouldn't bother me because I like the rain, especially on a warm day where even the most mature individual is tempted to jump into a puddle. Today, today is my last day in Rio de Janeiro and I'd like to say my upset stomach was over my uneasiness of leaving a place I've called home for four months or that it's because ...
The Travel Channel: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of TV Travel
The Travel Channel is many things, but first and foremost it is a source of entertainment, not the know-it-all authority on travel. While it exposes the idea of travel and the world to many who would otherwise be content to sit in their La-Z-Boy recliner it will only give you the inspiration to get there, not the resources to explore. Alas, that will be reserved for the likes of Lonely Planet and ...

New Brew Tuesday: The Battle of the Modelos

New Brew Tuesday: The Battle of the ModelosI like this Mexican (although more celebrated in the US than Mexico) holiday. It isn’t even their independence day, but merely a battle victory; Yet they party all out on this day. I think the US should take to this style of celebration. We should have a day of celebration to commemorate every battle won and maybe even those that we lost with parades, grilling out and lots of beer of course. This is not for my own selfish reasons. I mean, think of the poor workers at the brewery. We can help save their job! And what about the local grocery store where you will buy your hamburgers and hot dogs.  Don’t you want to help them out too? This is for our country – our fellow Americans (and if you aren’t American same goes for you and your country men/women) don’t be selfish.

New Brew Tuesday: Great Divide’s Hades Ale

Great Divide Brewsing Company - Haydes AleType: Beer – Belgium Strong Ale
Name: Great Divide Brewing Co. – Hades Ale  @GreatDivideBrew
Price: $2.09
Made: Denver, Colorado
Alc/Vol: 7.8%

According to what the Great Divide Brewing Co. shared with me on twitter, Hades Ale was originally a seasonal beer in 22oz bottles but became  so popular that they started brewing it year round in 6 packs. Now that to me is bad-ass, but then again when you have a name like Hades you know your in for one hell of a good beer. ;-)   They surely talk a big game on their website boasting the awards they have won, and challenge others to, “Crack open a bottle and decide for yourself.” Although, if you are dealing out the good stuff why not throw on a Greek god and his three headed puppy, Cerberus, and call it a day.

New Brew Tuesday: Stiegl Pils

 New Brew Tuesday: Stiegl Pils

I feel pretty oh so pretty and witty and bright...

Type: Beer – Pilsner
Name: Stiegl Pils
Price: $1.59
Made: Austria
Alc/Vol: ?%

“World Classic Beer – since 1492″

“Imported beer brewed since 1492 by the Stiegl brewery brewed from malt, hops, yeast mountain spring water according to the ‘Purity Law of 1516′”
Now this is a beer that I thoroughly enjoyed the privilege of setting my paws on. I mean when Columbus was off getting lost and discovering inhabited lands by accident Austrians were stumbling onto a real discovery, beer. Golden delicious pilzen beer, sure beer has been around before 1492 but do you know of too many other beers still around from that time? I didn’t think so, which tells me one of two things either the Austrians know how to stick with a good thing that or they’ve been too drunk since then to create anything new.

New Brew Tuesday: Moon River Brewing Co.

New Brew Tuesday: Moon River Brewing Co.

Left to Right: Swamp Fox IPA, Captain Porter, Savannah Fest and Wile Wacky Wit

Todays’ New Brew Tuesday feature is going to be a little different because we aren’t going to talk about single beer but four great selections that I had on a sampler platter at Moon River Brewing Co. in Savannah, Georgia. I know you’re thinking, “This monkey is flinging crazy talk” but it is true and I enjoyed each of these beers and what they had to offer. I had an average tasting meal of salmon and sweet potato fries with a cinnamon dipping sauce for lunch since this brewery had a bar and grill attached to it. The meal left much to be desired and left even less in my wallet but was saved by the beers. The bar keep was slow to ask if we wanted anything to eat or drink even though there wasn’t many people in the place, and I surely wasn’t in there just for the ambiance even if all the old beer cans/bottles gave it a cool look.

A Savannah side note, open container is perfectly OK as long as it is not in a glass bottle so if you don’t like the atmosphere of where you’re at you can always get your beer to go.

New Brew Tuesday: O.K. Beer OkocimType: Beer – Full Pale
Name: O.K. Beer Okocim
Price: $1.59
Made: Brzesco, Poland

Okocim O.K. is a fine and delicate brew, deriving its quality from a recipe which incorporates the best of indigenous Polish hop varieties, luxurious barley and only the softest mountain water

The O.K. label remains mostly unchanged from its original design from forty years ago. The beer itself helped define “Polish Pils style”, which in turn separated Polish beers from the many other European brands.”
