It is hard to believe that this is my 100th post, on top of that I am inching closer and closer to my one year blogiversary (November 23rd!). I dare say that when the idea of a blog came to me I didn’t think that I would be able to fling it this far…and that it would stick for that matter (bad mental imagery?). Yet here I am getting more visitors to my site per day then I initially go my first month, and for the record that was 29 visitors.
Best Comment Flingers
While the number of people, spam bots and stumblers that come to MonkeyBrewster vary it is those who leave a comments that have earned a special place in my furry little heart. It tells me that someone actually reads my posts, and wanted to share some feedback, insight or if my Akismet missed it how I can take some special pill that will make me 13 inches long. For the record that is taller then I am right now, or were they referring to….
Either way these are the top 15 people who continue to frequent, comment and share my monkey musing even though a good number of them are around the world traveling.

So thank you all, big and small, first time visitors to RSS subscribers I really couldn’t keep up with this if it wasn’t for your wonderful feedback.
Some Past Flung Posts
My Very First Post: A Drinking Guide To Rio de Janeiro
I’m proud to say that I can look at all the posts I’ve written since and this one still stands as a good one. A Bit wordy, and not enough pictures but it has some great information including a break down of all the different drinks you can find in Rio and the infamous Drink Card.
My Most Popular Post: How to Write an About me Section – and Why Your Current One Sucks
I never thought this post would go this far but it seems that every week this post is bringing in a few people. It could just be the keywords but I like to think, deep down, that it is because I tell them that their About section sucks. @(^_^)@
My Most Time Consuming Post: Owl City – Monkeyflies
I had a lot of fun making this post, sneaking around at toy stores and Hobby Lobby but once it was all put together it put a smile on my face, and from what I’ve heard a few others too.
Recent Changes and Some Upcoming Ones Too
You may have noticed that I’ve added some Google Ads to my site, added an Advertisement page and some places on my side bar for ad space and sponsored links. What this coming from the monkey who wrote about why you should wait to put up ads? Why yes, because I’ve also realized that blogging costs money and if I want to continue to improve this site my day job won’t cover the expenses. I’m looking to eventually get a professional logo, business cards and maybe even a photo hosting site so I don’t have to host them on my domain. (Thanks for the tip Gary!) Who knows maybe I can get cool stickers that I can send out to whoever wants them and you can share the wealth of everything monkey.
Who knows but since I’ve made it this far, I want to see if I can fling a little bit farther.
What I’ve Learned
Blogging is hard work, knowing how to write is only half the battle. I’ve come to realize that I don’t know poo about the travel industry and even less about the mechanics of marketing and advertising. I like to travel and want to fling my posts across the globe, but they aren’t gonna fling themselves. I think I’ve finally figured out this whole wordpress thing, and I’ve improved my social networking skills (I guess you humans think flinging poo is a bad thing, who’da thunk it?) I still haven’t quite figured out what my ‘niche’ is, just that I’m a drinking blogging traveling monkey. Is that a niche? If so what would be the key words? I’m scared what Google will bring up with any utterance of poo, so that is out.
My Bucket List
No I haven’t forgotten about my bucket list, my inspiration to create this travel blog of sorts. In fact, I’ve been working on a few of them.
23. Learn To Bar Tend – with all my New Brew Tuesday musings especially the ones on Pisco Sour, the Martini and Kegs I’m learning the fundamentals of alcohol. Anyone can pour a beer, well almost anyone I’ve met a few who really shouldn’t. No, I want to be able to pour a perfect version of the 6 original cocktails.
36. Spend New Years Eve in Times Square. – I hope to accomplish this one this year, anyone else going to be there I’m looking for a party to crash….don’t worry I’m house trained.
44. Read the Classics - This one is not one to rush through but I’ve been doing pretty good so far since June. I’ve read Alice In Wonderland, The Swiss Family Robinson
, Robinson Crusoe
, The Jungle , and I’m currently reading Around the World in 80 Days
. Additionally I have purchased Wuthering Heights, A Christmas Carol
, Don Quixote and a few others.
52. Spend Christmas on the beach drinking tropical drinks. – I was so close to this last year while in Peru it hurt, no really the sunburn did hurt. I spent the 3 days prior to, including Christmas Eve, on the beach in Paracas and went two days later to the beach in Lima but never actually made it on Christmas.
55. Learn to ride a unicycle – There’s only one wheel, do you know how hard it is to balance on that thing? But I’ll learn I practice a little every week.
__________________________
I really don’t know what this post is directly about, it’s a little bit of a, “Thanks for being a fan,” along with a little of what I’ve done and where I’m going. I don’t want to be a blogger that looses touch with my readers (hehe that sounds so cool to say) so post a comment or send me an email [email protected] to let me know what you think or if you have any questions or tips.
In the end all I’m trying to say is, come to the furry side, we are cute and cuddly @(^_^)@

Yeah, me too. Sad to say but it has become exactly what I talked about…outdated and partially untrue.
